The good news is that the doc has now released me from any restrictions on activity following my 2-level cervical spine fusion on March 1 of this year. The bad news is that it’s now June 10 and my re-conditioning must take place in the heat of the summer!
So be it. I climbed aboard after church this morning — thought it best to pray over this folly first — and did a quick 3-1/2 miles. Really did take it easy, honest doc. 13.1 mph average speed and the average heart rate was 143. Mostly (almost) flat terrain helped.
Thus it begins. I promised the doc, Jennifer and myself that I would be sensible as I move toward doing 50 mile days again. Patience. God please give me patience, and I want it now!
